Driving the Cars of Today
The transport industry has come under threat from high gas prices (they more than doubled a year ago), environmental concerns (carbon emissions and global warming) and a severe recession that has drove people away from dealers' showrooms. Sales of new cars has virtually dwindled to just a few thousand units such that major car makers are now asking the government for help. People who are worried about their jobs are not expected to be thinking of making major purchases when there is so much uncertainty around.
The cars of today are much more efficient, burns fuel more cleanly and safer with so many features that make accidents more survivable. Hybrid cars are currently the trend in the auto industry which uses both gasoline and electricity to improve mileage and reduce carbon emissions contributory to global warming. In the works are totally electric cars that run on re-chargeable batteries but are considered still primitive because it runs only short distances before you have to plug it into an outlet to recharge.
