Pashima Shawls in the Shopping List
When going shopping for anything like clothes, fashion jewellery, accessories, blings or whatever, be sure to include pashmina shawls in your list. They are extremely lightweight but provide good insulation in cold weather. Shawls and scarves made from this cashmere wool are a bit expensive because the manufacturing process is labour intensive and very intricate. It is a time-consuming process and the goat from which it is derived produces only very small amounts of fine under-hair each year during the moulting spring season.
Cashmere wool is derived from the cashmere goat which produces a two-layer fleece: the outer coarser hair or termed as "guard hairs" and the softer inner layer of fine hair or down called an "undercoat." Goats moult their hair over a period of three months between March and May each spring.
Pashmina shawls should form part of your fashion wardrobe. People highly value it for its extremely fine texture which combined with its strength and surprising softness makes it an ideal material for winter clothing. Cashmere wool is woven and knitted into sweaters, gloves, jumpers and socks. It can also be incorporated into fabrics and then cut and sewn to make pyjamas, blankets, jackets and coats. Shawls and scarves made from pashmina wool are favourite fashion items among women. Shawls are similar to a stole or a wrap while a scarf is something a bit longer than an ordinary shawl. Scarves are often used as mantelpieces to cover the top of a prized wood furniture too. Due to this time-consuming process and good insulation qualities combined with softness and strength, cashmere wool is quite expensive.
